The Numbers Tell the Story

Battery Energy Density

A lithium polymer battery provides 89.9 watt-hours per pound (Wh/lb). For a 50.7 lb battery, the total energy stored is 50.7 lb × 89.9 Wh/lb = 4,557.93 Wh.

Hybrid Energy Density

Diesel fuel offers 5,272.5 Wh/lb. With the ARC’s 6% efficiency, the effective energy density is 316.4 Wh/lb. For a 48.3 lb generator/fuel-tank combo, the total energy stored is 48.3 lb × 316.4 Wh/lb = 15,282.12 Wh—3.5 times higher.
